(Late) Shri. R. Dayananda Sagar

An educationist, a politician, a society builder and a visionary, Barrister (Late) Shri R. Dayananda Sagar, was an Arts and Commerce graduate and the Fellow of Royal College of Economics, England. Having come from a very humble background, education changed his future. He was an avid believer of the saying, “be the change you want to bring in this world.” Thus, his journey of transforming society began with the foundation of Mahatma Gandhi Vidya Peetha Trust after returning to India from England. With its ambitious start in the 60s to provide professional education to students, the Trust today boasts of providing education to over 30, 000 students in its 3 large campuses, right in the heart of the city of Bengaluru. The Trust has been focusing on expanding further with its 4th University campus coming up in Harohalli in greater Bengaluru area.

(Late) Dr. Chandramma D Sagar

(Late) Dr. Chandramma D Sagar was a nationally- renowned Obstretician and Gynaecologist who went on to serve as an Honorary Surgeon to three former Presidents of India and three Governors of State. She was a recipient of highest of honor with a gold medal from Mysore Medical College while in university. To pursue her interests and education further, she headed to the United Kingdom in the 50s. Pride of India, she was the first lady doctor from India to be bestowed with a triple FRCS: FRCS (London), FRCS (Edinburgh) FRCS (Glasgow). Her love for her country, India, and her people pulled her back to India where a bright future awaited her. She served as the Dean of Vani Vilas Hospital in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Later, in the year 1963, she founded Chandra Nursing Home, which is the building block of creating the very Sagar Healthcare Division.
